Hello Igniters! Spring is here!!
I personally struggle with the traditional way that mindfulness has been introduced to us. I believe mindfulness isn’t just about sitting quietly and calming your thoughts. It’s about embracing the present moment in whatever you’re doing. Let’s break free from the confines of traditional mindfulness and infuse it into our everyday activities. Wondering how? Here are some of my favorite ways to make mindfulness a part of my daily routine:
1. Savour a Warm Drink Wrap yourself in a cosy blanket and enjoy a warm drink. Engage all your senses by noticing the taste, texture, temperature, and aroma. Feel the comfort of the blanket and the warmth of the drink as you fully immerse yourself in the moment.
2. Indulge in a Luxurious Bath or Shower Use aromatic bath salts in your bath or shower. As you soak, feel the softness of your skin, inhale the soothing scents, and take deep breaths. Let the warm water wash away your stress and tension.
3. Sing Your Heart Out Turn up your favourite music and sing along with abandon. Even if you’re initially hesitant, belting out your favourite song can be incredibly liberating and might even lead to a cathartic release of emotions.
4. Connect with Nature Spend time outside, whether in a park or your backyard. Observe the clouds, soak in the sunshine, listen to the wind rustling through the trees, and take in the vibrant colours around you. Let nature ground you in the present moment.
5. Remember to Breathe Take ten deep breaths or practice a simple breathing meditation during moments of stress or anxiety. Focus on your breath to centre yourself and bring calm to your mind.
6. Lose Yourself in a Book Dive into your favourite book and allow yourself to get lost in the story. Let time slip away as you immerse yourself in the world within the pages.
7. Treat Yourself Gift yourself a special treat, like a massage, pedicure, or a trip to the hairdresser. Pay attention to the sensations and fully immerse yourself in the relaxing experience.
8. Write a Heartfelt Letter Express your emotions by writing a letter to someone or something that has caused you pain. Let your feelings flow onto the paper, and experience the release that comes with authentic expression.
9. Tune into Uplifting Podcasts Listen to uplifting podcasts, find solace in a comforting voice, and learn something new. Let the positive messages inspire and uplift you.
10. Savour Your Favourite Snack Mindfully enjoy chocolate or your favourite snack. Engage your senses as you slowly taste the rich flavours and appreciate the texture, savouring each blissful bite.
Step Away from Traditional Mindfulness
Mindfulness doesn’t have to be confined to traditional practices. By infusing your daily moments with intention, you can nurture your well-being as you go about your day. Embrace these simple yet effective ways to make mindfulness a part of your everyday life. You’ll find that mindfulness can be both practical and enriching, enhancing your overall sense of wellbeing.
Have a fabulous week!
